Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has rejected a proposal put forward by US President Donald Trump for the disarmament of Hamas in Gaza, saying it did not reflect Israel’s position on the conflict.
Netanyahu said the proposal, described by Trump as “historic”, included the withdrawal of Israeli forces from their current positions in Gaza in exchange for Hamas laying down its arms. However, he clarified that the draft was prepared by the United States and was not an Israeli proposal.

“President Trump thinks they can get Hamas to disarm. They sent us a draft. It wasn’t our draft,” Netanyahu said.
Reaffirming Israel’s security stance, the Prime Minister said the country would not withdraw its forces from their current positions until Hamas is completely disarmed.
“I stand firm on our security interests. We won’t withdraw from our current lines until Hamas is completely disarmed,” Netanyahu added.
The remarks underscore continuing differences over the approach to ending the conflict in Gaza, with Israel maintaining that the complete disarmament of Hamas remains a precondition for any military withdrawal.
