The recent provocative rhetoric’s from the BJP leaders is very disturbing and has serious implication for the unity of our country.
During the independence struggle our great leaders fought the mighty British Empire for self rule. The vast majority of the Indian people were united to fight and die for the independence struggle. But, today we have to fight our very own people from destroying communal harmony.
We are all Indians irrespective of religion, caste and creed. Our Constitution guarantees religious freedom. A few politicians and other opportunistic elements want to destroy the essence of India which is unity in diversity. The political class and the media must devote more time in unifying the country and not to create disharmony among various sections of the society. We want India to be a developed nation by 2020 or 2030 which can be possible only if there is peace and communal harmony among all religion. The ruling party at the centre must ensure educational and economic progress of minorities and other marginal section of the society, so that every Indian should feel that the country cares for them.
With respect to the issue of cow slaughters I want to ask those people who advocate ban. Can they explain in case of famine in the country will they protect the human or the cow or both and how? Can they explain how they will compensate and rehabilitate the seller, buyer and butcher of old cows of their only livelihood? Can they explain in case of road accidents involving a vehicle and a cow, whose life is more precious is it the person or the cow? Can they explain in case of wild animals killing the cow will they kill the entire wild life? Can they be in a position to clean the roads of cow dungs on daily basics without charging any fee to the government local bodies? Can they make sure that the cows on the streets of India doesn’t eat the trash but rather provided with good nutritious food free of cost? Can they explain why the BJP government at the centre is patronizing western countries (USA and Europe) to invest in India who by any reasonable doubt are beef eaters? Can they explain why so many Indians who are vegetarians living in western and Gulf countries doesn’t speak a word against cow slaughter?
The other issue is about ‘Make in India’ initiative. The central government should know that just mere publicity and media hype with respect to make in India initiative will not go down well with the investors. Nowadays, the investor’s takes into consideration several other risk factors associated with his investment in new emerging markets.
Any sensible investor would wish to have political stability including social and religious harmony. Secondly, the ‘Make in India’ initiative will work if our engineers and technicians are given exposure to practical training rather than bookish knowledge. The education system need urgent overhaul to accommodate people with exceptionally natural talent rather than considering marks / grades. People with natural talent have innovative skills to develop India as they look outside the box and will invent for country specific needs. ‘Make in India’ should be made by Indians for Indians and to the world.
