India’s Daughter Nirbhaya

India has banned the BBC Documentary ‘India’s Daughter’ on the gang rape of young Indian girl in December two years back. This ban is confined only to India and not outside India because Indian jurisdiction is applicable only in India and not to the land of BBC and as such BBC and other sovereign countries are free to act the way they want. And BBC land has already acted the way it wanted by telecasting this film from where the interested persons through U-Tube distributed everywhere. I saw it on March 5 midnight and I found nothing wrong in it nor derogatory nor anti-Indian. On the contrary I found it very informative and educative that gives a very good lesson for the would be rape victims.
According to the Documentary, the victim girl had so ferociously resisted this rape that she even slapped one of the accused to prevent him from touching her body that angered the rapists more. At the start of the incident, immediately after entering the bus, one of the accused asked the victim girl why she was so late and that too with the boy. Infuriated by this poser, the girl answered bluntly that insulted the accused. This was the flashpoint on the part of the accused to take the law into their own hands violently.
The lesson to learn here is “never to antagonise your perpetrator” or rapist because he is possessed by animal power which by all means he will apply to put you into submission even by maiming your body or killing you. For this reason Gorge Bernard Shaw remarked wittily thus, “When rape is unavoidable, the girl should just lie down and enjoy.” If there is resistance then there is no surety of avoiding neither rape nor physical assault.
There was uproar in the Parliament in India by the ruling party and more by the Home Minister against this Documentary citing an excuse that it is defaming India’s image abroad. But in reality, the image of India is already destroyed beyond repairs by the nonsensical decisions taken by the BJP government, namely harassment for minorities especially for Christians, Ghar Wapsi, Non-Fulfillment of promises made before the last general election by Modi, break-down of Law and Order etc.  In the eyes of foreigners, the image of India is already tarnished for this reason during his recent visit to India, president Obama rapped the Indian government for its harassment for minorities, meaning Christians because when Christians are hurt naturally the West is hurt because West is dominated by the Christians. That has finally made Modi to assure the minorities in general and Christians in particular all the protection of the government.
The value of India in the eyes of foreigners one comes to know by the distasteful treatment Indian Passport holder is getting in the world outside India. By suppressing the release of BBC Documentary in India, the Government of India suppressed the freedom of speech and expression in India. This is a murder of Democracy of the type Indira Gandhi committed during the Emergency. I cannot accept the fact that BJP government can stoop so low to ban this film just as Congress government did by banning the ‘Satanic Verses’ of Sulman Rushdie.  The BJP government is acting worse than Congress. For this reason, all the freedom loving Indians must start the movement to unseat the BJP governments not only at the Centre but even in the States including Goa. I see in front of my eyes Emergency re-emerging in India because of BJP’s brute majority in the Lok Sabha.
