School bell, clock stolen
CALANGUTE: When the Government Primary School at Sangolda reopened on June 5, the staff and students were in for an unusual surprise. The school bell and wall clock were missing from the school.
According to Calangute Police, the school headmistress complained that the burglary must have taken place sometime between April 24 and June 5, when burglars entered the school and decamped with school’s items like brass bell, wall clock, rope, etc, all worth about Rs 5,000. Head Constable K T Gawas is investigating the case.
CMC chairperson resigns
CANACONA: Canacona Municipal Council (CMC) Chairperson Ajay Bhagat resigned from his post on Thursday.
Bhagat resigned amidst reports that the ruling group is likely to submit to his demand to allow him to complete a year in office till August 13, after allowing him a month’s extension.
“The resignation was submitted to the DMA and a copy to the CMC chief officer on Thursday,” Bhagat informed.
Bhagat’s resignation has, however, triggered a political upheaval of sorts, with at least four councillors planning to take control of the council.
One falls to death in Honda
VALPOI: A 23-year-old youth from UP died after he fell from a height at IDC Honda on Wednesday.
According to Valpoi Police, Amjad Isa Chowdhari, residing at IDC Honda, was rushed to PHC Sanquelim where he succumbed to injuries received in the fall.
Police sent the body to GMC morgue in Bambolim for post-mortem and PSI Uday Gawde is investigating the case.
Workshop on android application
PANJIM: The Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering Department of Padre Conceicao College of Engineering in collaboration with Pushkala Technologies, Texas Instruments University program, VLSI Society of India (Goa chapter) and Umang Software Technologies, Margao is conducting a six-day ISTE approved STTP on ‘Android Application Development and Embedded Android on Beagle Board’ since June 3 and which will conclude on June 8. Such a technical workshop is the first ever conducted in Goa and only the fourth in India.
The workshop was inaugurated by Mangirish Salelkar, CEO, Umang Software Technologies.
The trainer for the course is Vishwa Kiran, having 13 years experience in development and training. He is associated with Pushkala Technologies Pvt Ltd for development and corporate training. The coordinators are Reena Fernandes and Shailesh Khanolkar.
Pretty Home exhibition opens
PANJIM: Pretty Home family exhibition was inaugurated on June 6 at BPS Sports Club, Margao and shall remain open till June 10 from 10 am to 8.30 pm everyday.

Youth Alive retreat at Pilar
PANJIM: Pilar Fathers will be organizing Youth Alive retreat on June 9, from 10 am to 4 pm at Pilar Animation Centre.
