While on one hand it is indeed high time that drunken driving on roads should be put to an end, on the other hand there is a danger that some of our policemen may take the unwary driver for a ride at his own discretion by making a false claim that a driver is drunk as per his finding even when the driver may not have consumed any alcohol at all.
Every alcohol breath analyzer used by the police should be provided with a hand held printer showing the level of alcohol in the person’s breath as well as the permissible limit.
As a precaution to drunken driving, all establishments serving alcohol including party-places should mandatorily be equipped with an alcohol breath analyzer so that anyone leaving the place after a drink can check the status of his breath before taking the wheel. Unless this is done there is every likelyhood that a whole wedding party may land up at the police station after each wedding reception in Goa.
