Although the Road Transport Office (RTO) has fixed the age limit for acquiring a driving licence as 18 years, we still come across cases wherein minor children, even below the age of 15 years driving a two-wheeler on the main road.
However, such a practice is very much dangerous to their precious lives. At times they over-speed the vehicle and there is every possibility of a mishap taking place, especially on narrow roads and sharp turns. Many a times we watch parents handing over the vehicle key to their minor children for procuring materials from the nearby shops/ market. On safety grounds, it would be advisable to discourage such a tendency. This will ultimately assure safety to innocent children.
Further, we watch almost three school/college students travelling on a single two-wheeler. However, such acts pose a serious threat for the lives of students.
It is absolutely necessary for the RTO/ Traffic Cell officials to exercise a strict vigil over school/college students travelling on two-wheelers. Those driving the vehicle wrecklessly and without a valid license should be levied cash fines to be paid on the spot.
These officials should visit the college premises during working hours and take to task students who flout the necessary rules and regulations framed by this competent authority. It is absolutely necessary that children resort to driving only after obtaining a valid driving license. This would ultimately assure safety not only to them but also to fellow travellers and pedestrians. Parents need to advise their children accordingly so that adverse consequences at any instance are avoided on permanent basis.
