It is unfortunate that the Madhya Pradesh government woke up from its stupor very late in the day and has ordered a CBI probe into the Vyapam case. The death of 45 people linked to the scam suggests that there is something amiss. The whistleblowers of the scam are also constantly haunted by the fear of becoming the next victim.
The callous disregard for human lives and the laid back attitude of the Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister only makes the case more sinister. That a host of top politicians and bureaucrats along with their family members have been linked to the scam and are out to muzzle the truth has also helped to send a shiver down the spine. This high-profile scam needs to be put on the fast track and investigated on priority if the truth is to be revealed soon.
