Coal block verdict

The Supreme Court of India in its recent verdict has declared the allocation of about 200 coal blocks after 1993 is illegal. (in the next hearing on 1 September 2014, illegality will be determined in more details).

In fact both the government’s viz. BJP-lead NDA & Congress-led UPA I & II are responsible for the irregularities as proper guidelines were not followed (were breached) and also the objective criteria were flawed. It is alleged that the nexus between the corporate sectors and corrupt government officials can not be ruled out in these allocation for pecuniary gains.
The stoppage of coal blocks allocation is likely to adversely affect the power units leading into plunging the nation in the darkness. It is sincerely hoped that henceforth the allocation of coal blocks will have more transparency & credibility.
