The Herald Editorial dt. 08-11-2014 has hit the nail on the head as there will be many like me who must have got this same feeling of déjà vu the moment the rumors were confirmed that Parrikar was leaving for Delhi. The ‘slippery’ politicians have once again started the numbers game and each one is counting the chickens (even those who are not in the reckoning).
As this episode has exposed the fragility and divisiveness of the BJP leaders (without the Boss), it has also exposed many other BJP smoke screens especially created by the topmost leaders. Just a few days back the PM announced austerity measures and had asked his ministers to fly in economy and to avoid the 5-star culture but the party observers who are firefighting the present revolt checked into starred hotels in the city. And if the State had a better leader than Parrikar the question of choosing a leader and sending him to the Centre would never arise.
So the final conclusion of a party with a difference is that the gap has narrowed considerably leaving it with no difference at all!!!
