Is Special Status enough for Goa

Getting Special Status will achieve the objective of keep the remaining land with Goans but will that help Goans in terms of attaining economic fulfillment and prosperity.

Getting Special Status will achieve the objective of keep the remaining land with Goans but will that help Goans in terms of attaining economic fulfillment and prosperity.
The need of the hour for Goans is a reason to stay in Goa either for work or to enjoy a standard of living which they see in other countries or cities. They want the earn a decent salary and live a life not facing the daily ills that one hears about every day in Goa. Corruption, cleanliness, poor medical care, rising prices of basic necessities, ineffective police force, drugs and fear of rising threats from communal forces are working on the peaceful Goan psyche and encourages people to sell and move away. Successuve governments have failed miserably and in fact appear to have actually encouraged the exodus.  Migrants have exploited this in every way. They are running restaurants and hotels, building houses and every possible business something that any Goan could do. Instead Goans in the middle east work in difficult conditions away from their families and earn quarter of what outsiders are making in Goa.
Goans may not need special status just an incentive to use their lands  and homes to their benefit. Creating an environment that encourages Goans to run business will lead to a stop in lands being sold to outsiders and jobs created for fellow Goans. Also it will stop migration which will actually change the cultural face of Goa.

Rapes & moral values
Yet another rape case witnessed of a 7-year-old innocent girl in Margao. What could be the fault of this innocent kid as she fell prey to such heinous crime. After the Delhi rape case we have been witnessing end number of these crimes till date. People justify these crimes by pointing at the clothes girls wear.  What would the society speak about the 4-year-old girl rape case; a six year raped
by her own cousin ; a school girl raped by some unknown inhumane and now this 7-year-old raped and strangled to death. It’s neither the question of clothes nor girls getting freedom.  The reason is lack of morals and ethics. Our youngsters have lost moral values.  We pledge everyday saying “all Indians are my brothers and sisters”  but unfortunately fail to stand by this pledge. Secondly, the education system is failing to impart moral values in students coupled with the role of parents in upbringing their children.  Children nowadays are given tabs and ipads right after birth.  They grow up playing animated games and watching animated movies.  A generation once grew up glorifying and praising the almighty; but now a days our young kids wake up singing wraps and listening DJs. This is the point we fail at. We impart self defence knowledge in girls but is not moral values the primary need now a days?

New governor
The new Governor of Goa is a BJP loyalist. As expected, the Narendra Modi government failed to keep away loyalty and party-affiliation as factors affecting governors’ appointments. While our new Governor Mridula Sinha is known as a reputed author, it would be welcome if she follows the footsteps of her predecessor Wanchoo and becomes a people-friendly first citizen. The Cabo Raj Bhavan needs to be more closer to the general public, as the Rashtrapati Bhawan today is.

Traffic at Zuari
When a small or major accidents happens on the bridge we don’t foresee an immediate solution since there is a dramatic increase in number of vehicles piling on. A traffic cell must be based in Agasaim police station for immediate action.  Traffic and Police personnel should be immediately deployed on bikes at both ends of the bridge to control the traffic and errant drivers. Jeeps should not be used as our roads are narrow, which will make the situation worse. Police personnel should make announcement on megaphone informing the drivers about the accident and that no driver should bypass a car in front, they should stay in line to avoid chaos and discipline among drivers must be observed.
Towing vehicle is of utmost importance and should be located at Agassaim police station to deploy it immediately. If the accident is minor the vehicle should be cleared to nearest end.
