This is with regard to your editorial “We are loud and clear, Mr CM. And that is not confusing” (Herald September 23). I congratulate you for your objective and impartial journalism. I also congratulate Herald for providing a balance of issues and views, reflecting a wide range of opinions, exploring conflicting observations and ensuring that no significant strand of thought is over or under-represented.
I particularly congratulate you for your bold editorials which give us the bare and the naked truth without any attempt to sugar-coat the bitter pill.
If some react by “ridiculing and insulting the media for not being beholden to their gracious presence in leading the Goan flock towards transformation” it is because they themselves refuse to look in the mirror fearing it will tell them things they do not wish to confront. Surrounded by sycophants they are only used to hear sweet nothings and fear the truth that will only remind them about their inaction, wrong-actions and U turns.
A ship that is going astray needs a course correction. And it is strange that those who with a genuine concern draw attention to the fault lines, and through an S.O.S. plead for a course correction (to save Goa from going down the wrong path), such ones are disparaged and subjected to ridicule.
For now the slogan in the echelons of power seems to be “The Emperor
knows all. Après moi le déluge”. But this must change. Bravo Herald. Carry on with your crusade. We are with you.
Dr Francisco Colaco, Margao
