Govt of Delhi

One does not require anyone’s permission to praise the government of Delhi. Yes, the Kejrival serkar of Aam Aadmi Party which governs the union territory of Delhi from the same place from where BJP government is governing the whole of India. Kejrival serkar in Delhi is the only Aam Aadmi Party in the whole of India. And this Kejrival serkar of Aam Aadmi Party gives to the people of Delhi free electricity upto 200 units and 50% free 200 units to 400 units. Free drinking water. Free travelling for Delhites women all over Delhi.

Free education to the children of Delhi in world class posh schools with swimming pools. Monthly ration at the doorsteps of Delhi people. Roads and footpaths are shining. And many other various schemes for the people of Delhi.

Don’t you think that this is a lesson for all other parties, national as well as regional to learn and follow? It’s time for us voters to open our eyes, apply our minds and vote for a change, for the betterment of our lives like Delhites. Who thought that one day Delhi will see this change? Delhites gambled, they voted and they won. Now it’s our turn, the rest of India.

Exorbitant rise in Court fees

The Court Fees (Goa Amendment) Act 2020 which was passed by the Goa Legislative Assembly during the brief session held on August 27, 2020 and immediately assented to by the Governor on August 12, 2020 was soon notified in the (Extraordinary no2) Official gazette of Government of Goa on 17/08/2020 raising various Court fees very steeply for the common man.

The exorbitant rise in Court fees during the Covid-19 pandemic hurriedly by the Government when all level of Courts in the State did not conduct any physical hearings and the entire judicial process system was at standstill except matters of urgency through video conferences or bail applications were heard, is very exploitative and a shocking measure adopted urgently by the State Government.

An application moved in the District Court or the Lower Civil and Criminal Judiciary has been raised steeply from mere Rs 2 to Rs. 20, thereby increasing the cost ten times and percentage wise by a 1000 % rise. In cases of bail bonds and forms for surety has also been raised from Rs 2/- to Rs 50/ which is a hike of 25 times and percentage wise of 2500 %.

Besides table of rates for ad valorem fees for value of institution of suits in various Courts have almost been doubled according to the new table even making matrimonial petitions filed quite frequently these days a very expensive affair for the ordinary person who desires to find separate ways.

One fails to understand as to when the Law department which is an exclusive department of the State has become a revenue earning department of the Government to raise the Court fees so exorbitantly during the pandemic when the entire Nation is suffering from economic slowdown.

The State Government needs to put an end to such steep rise in Court fees and roll back the fees to at least Rs10 per application, as accessibility and affordability are the hallmark of a free and fair judiciary in a democracy.

Railway overbridge in Cansaulim

This has reference to the report ‘Cansaulim locals submit written objection to rail overbridge’ (Herald, February 16). Referring the views expressed by different individuals, I would again repeat that the present plan is indeed long an unnecessary. The original plan drawn by Mathany with the help of Vasco PWD was very practical and short, and above all less expensive. I would request the Hon Dy Collector to call from the PWD the original Plan and decide on the matter.

This plan was also inspected by late Parrikar and given go ahead for land acquisition. But after Parrikar took up the Defence Minister and after demise of M Mathany, the present plan was drawn which is a matter of objection. Now referring to some suggestions of having an underpass instead of flyover, this again to be examined whether it is technically feasible. The authority to decide on this aspect are Railways and their views need to be obtained on the new plan, old plan and the underpass.

Justify your stand for Goa

The most important factor that plays a very crucial role and provides life to all living creatures on Earth is being destroyed and manipulated by greedy and self centred leaders of our Country. The whole World is transiting into renewable energy but sadly our leaders are going backwards promoting coal.

Development at the cost of environment is totally a No No! Why is it that our leaders are so obsessed to develop the infrastructures by destroying our forests when actually our whole Country is struggling to survive? I can smell something very fishy, the intensity of stubbornness and arrogance shown through the actions of our leaders is nothing but instigating the people to take the law into their own hands.

At a time when the Country is in recession our foolish leaders are spending Thousands of Crores illegally from the People’s fund to destroy the environment in the name of development just to impress and boost the wealth of a couple of big shots.

As per the SC no linear projects can be constructed during this crises except safety related but looks like no legal protocol is been followed. Are we in a Democratic Country? That is a big question because it doesn’t look so, the protests by the people opposing all these projects have been ushered aside and by forcibly continuing the work are acts of Dictatorship.

My dear Goemkaranno, if we are going to stay in our houses and allow dictatorship to push us around, it has no meaning to the hard work and dedication that was put in by our ancestors to save the beauty of Goa. We will only be able to tell the story of Goa painted from our memories, if we don’t show these arrogant leaders the power of the people now it will be too late to justify your stand for Goa in front of your grandchildren. The time is now to show your Goemkarponn by proving your support to save what is left of our Goem.

Second dose of Covid-19 vaccine

In what could eventually become worrisome, it is understood that a sizeable proportion of Indians have not been turning up for the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

On Saturday according to the provisional data released by the Union Health Ministry, only 4 per cent of healthcare workers received the second jab after receiving the first dose on January 16. There could be several reasons why people shy away from the second jab. The main reason being not knowing the significance of the second dose. Many may be of the opinion that only one dose will suffice to protect oneself from the corona virus which is not true. All vaccines that are being administered require at least two doses for immunity to kick in.

According to experts the first vaccine shot is designed to train the body to recognize the killer virus and ramp up the immune system, which is the body’s system against the infection. The second Covid-19 dose, which is called the booster shot, further boosts the immune system of the body. It is understood that it takes time for the immunity to develop. Hence it is imperative to observe all safety protocols even after getting fully inoculated. The importance of the second dose of the Covid-19 vaccine can never be underestimated. It would be imperative to provide a vaccination card to the beneficiary wherein the administration of the first and second dose is prominently mentioned.
