The citizen is not aware of the new draft, neither have we been asked for suggestions/feedback. When the Chief Secretary was asked about this, he reportedly said the Bill is the property of the House. Why the secrecy? The perception is that the police is the army of the politicians in power, using procedures that harass rather than help. The average citizen therefore does not trust the police. The police bill must ensure a people centric disciplined police service incorporating the Supreme Court guidelines to free it from political interference, so that it can function without fear or favor as per the law in public interest, so people will get back trust and faith in their police!
