In every nook and corner of our State whenever and wherever we go for shopping, marketing, buying medicines, travelling in buses, using sulab toilets and even in the banks there are no Rs 5 notes or coins and other small change. The shopkeepers/ owners (except fish markets) are facing this grave difficulty of shortage.
Some of them politely ask change of Rs 5 notes or coin or give something in exchange like chocolates, small coffee satchets etc to adjust the total amount for the purchases.
In some instances the shopkeepers or other small establishments insist for this change if not they are forced to lose their customers or business and if some of them are known than we have to be generous in understanding their difficulties and buy some other extra things to adjust the total amount or say keep the change for the next time.
Further it is quite a long time now that this shortage which has gone to be a habit for which Govt. of Goa is well aware of but nothing is being done to sort out this issue. Hence it is a high time that we should appeal louder and urge our newly elected Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar to take up this issue immediately with the Reserve Bank of India and other establishments concerned for providing Rs 5 coins or notes to end this shortage atleast for the sake of senior citizens, College/School going children.
