The death of Aruna Shanbaug is a heartrending story because of the tragic ordeal she underwent for 42 years which has definitely earned her a great reward in Heaven and we must also salute all those nurses and doctors of KEM hospital who from the very start without complaining toiled day and night to look after and care for their colleague who was in total coma all these years.
The Supreme Court rightly turned down a ‘Mercy Plea’ news which was received with great joy and celebration by the staff of KEM allowing them relief and to continue receiving blessings till the very end. But ‘Passive Euthanasia‘ was permitted by the Courts where many, even from the medical fraternity received it with skepticism given the fact that such verdicts can be misused by unscrupulous elements.
Lest we forget the American Pathologist Dr Jack Kevorkian aka Dr Death, who misused such laws thus assisting over 130 patients and others to commit suicides.
Aruna’s life and death and the heroic service rendered by the KEM staff is commendable!
