It came as a shocker that Councilors of the Margao Municipal Council are bracing up to ‘fly’ to Hyderabad on a junket under the guise of a study tour at the cost of the civic body.
The MMC councilors have in the past undertaken various junkets to various cities within India on the guise of ‘study tour’, and if one takes a walk across Margao’s filthy, potholed streets, it is left to one’s imagination as to who has benefitted and what has happened of the past tours undertaken by these councilors.
It would be a futile exercise if the councilors are allowed to go on such government paid ‘picnics’ when there is no accountability post the tour as to what study has taken place and how the study is implemented to better the dwindling conditions of the city so that the tax paying citizens get a better safe and healthy living within the city.
