Hats off to Goa Tourism Development Corporation Chairman Nilesh Cabral for introducing women taxi service in Goa, run exclusively by women.
GTDC’s initiative in starting woman driven taxi service in the State is aimed at creating awareness among tourist for being taken for a ride by unscrupulous elements among the taxi operators and now they can pay the actual amount for the use of taxis as the vehicles are fitted with electronic fair meters for giving digital receipt on payment through cash or card. The comfort zone of the users is also taken into consideration as these air conditioned taxis are equipped with emergency panic button with portable fire extinguisher for making it safe for ladies. The introduction of these cab services has given employment opportunities for local girls and women thereby making them financially independent and to fulfill their passion for driving.
This initiative by the government has brought a tremendous change in the mindset of people. Congratulations to all travel hostages for taking up this job and making us women proud in this male dominating
society.
