Many times tourists, through letters or articles in newspapers have exhorted Goans to take care of their beautiful Goa. Some have even chided Goans for not doing enough to protect the uniqueness of Goa from heartless and greedy marauders. Even ‘outsiders’ with a heart feel sorry to see Goa going to the dogs due to what is being done by the ‘insiders’.
Yes, we should be grateful to the many ‘outsiders’ for trying to awaken us when the house is on fire lest we perish inside.
Instead of showing disdain, let us acknowledge that ‘outsiders’ mean well in trying to awaken us and see the gravity of our precarious situation where our unique Goan identity is at risk. Utt Goenkara! Atam tori utt, ani bangarachem, mankulem Goem samball.
