Few days back, I just passed by a taxi with the label Women Taxi by GTDC. It’s really an appreciative step taken by the government of Goa. With such facilities provided, women could feel safe to travel and be secure. Owned and run by women such taxis will provide safe travel options at a time when violence against women is on the rise. Moreover, it is a best job opportunity for women who are not able to take up heavy workload due to poor health. Thus, a great step forward, by the government towards women safety and women empowerment. However, the number of taxis should be increased and a separate counter for these taxis should be made or the contact number should be added in the emergency call lists, then only women could reach out for these taxis anytime without any difficulties. These services should be extended in other cities as well.
