An Apt Decision for a New Beginning

At the beginning of the year we had made decisions! Dreamt the world of it – the do’s and don’ts! Well, it’s time to check in! As we make a new beginning – though in the middle of the year yet it’s indeed a time of new beginnings for different reasons.
A new morning is a new beginning and every challenge is a new creation. Be it the academic, pastoral, financial or liturgical year, a new awareness, a new idea with renewed energy is exciting and learning. We are people with abilities to understand and motivate self and others. There are personalities from whom we can draw inspiration, who dared to be different with a call to inspire.
Every morning we wake up is a fresh start! Therefore don’t start your day with the broken pieces of yesterday! Each day is a new beginning! When I say new beginnings it is that you choose to create a fresh start in the different areas of your life; be it in a relationship by forgiving; change of attitude, letting go of the past; being positive of self and others; and yes, of being proactive is an apt decision for a new beginning.
You can choose to stop using “if only…” but…” “all because…” “it’s so hard” as an excuse to avoid reaching beyond or to achieve your dreams and goals! Each day is a brand new beginning upon which to draw and colour your dreams. Over the years I have experienced    each and every person and situation we come across and go through is placed upon our path for a purpose. Sometimes it is to strengthen you, to challenge you and help you grow or to chastise you; sometimes it is to offer you friendship and support and sometimes it is to give you a moment of laughter or joy. Be it at your work place, at school/college, in a community or a friary.
As understood, when we choose to face our fears of improbability and willing to embrace all the opportunities is another feather in the cap to begin anew. Certainly, when you embark on to discover within you the power and ability to exercise your potentialities is like what Lao Tzu says “A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.” So whatever change you long for, whatever dream or goal you aspire to achieve … begin by choosing to embrace the power you have to create anew.
This doesn’t mean that there won’t be failures. No doubt, failure hurts yet failures are stepping stones not only for success but for new beginnings too! Instead of weakening, we have an opportunity to revolve, to take our life in a different direction for a different outcome.
It need not be a failure for that matter to make new beginnings though failures are part and parcel of life without which life doesn’t seem to have spice and taste. Trying out new things is indeed not a plethora. New beginnings come into our life also because we wish to change with a decision after an unpleasant experience!!!
A new venture is inclusive of uncertainty therefore listen to what St. Paul tells in the word of God: I have not given you a spirit of fear but of power, love and self-control.
For, Tyler Jones reminds and affirms us saying: At the end of the day, your life is just a story. If you don’t like the direction it’s going, change it. Rewrite it. When you rewrite a sentence, you erase it and start over until you get it right. Yes, it’s a little more complicated with a life, but the principle is the same. And don’t ever let anyone tell you that your revisions are not the truth.
It is beautifully said by Horacio Jones: Instead of saying, ‘I’m damaged, I’m broken, I have trust issues’ say ‘I’m healing, I’m rediscovering myself, and I’m starting over.’
Let’s live our life – being positive, optimistic, and being pro… If we’re not contented or joyful, believe that it’s never too late to begin over again…
