Biggest betrayal of 2012

Your bold hard-hitting and factual ‘Open Edit" of October 20 titled ‘Biggest betrayal of 2012’ is an eye-opener to every Goan who no longer can tolerate what is happening to Goa in the name of development.

Every point you made is based on facts and what is actually happening right now under our very noses.
We brought this government to power in 2012, having had enough of the corrupt and sycophant Congress rule. We wanted a change, hence we listened to the promises made by BJP in 2012 that of zero-tolerance to corruption and to safeguard the interest of Goa . These very promises seem to have gone for a toss. Whoever thought we would be betrayed so badly.
The last straw which is about to break our back is the bill the government is planning to bring to regularize all the illegal structures existing in Goa. One can well comprehend the consequences of this draconian supper bill if it ever becomes a law.
Few days back, the deputy CM, in an interview to your newspaper, said that the people will be taken into confidence with regard to this bill. If the government really wants to know the feelings of the people with regard to this, then they should circulate the draft of this bill to all the Panchayats and get feedback through specially convened Gram Sabhas. Only then will they understand what we Goans really feel about it. Also, can the deputy CM tell us, in which State of India can we Goans go, build illegal houses in someone else’s property and then get them regularized.
As the CM had said some time back, that more than 70% of the structures in the villages are illegal. Let them regularize the structures built by people in their own property, which they were forced to do so, because of the harassment they had to undergo to get the required licenses, when they are not willing to pay bribes. Other structures built by migrants and outsiders or even Goans in someone else’s property especially in Communidade land, should be demolished at any cost. Only then will the interest of Goa and Goans be safe-guarded.
Parsekar does not hesitate to say that the BJP is a people’s government. If so, please get rid of all the anti-people’s projects like Tiracol Golf Course, Raheja’s Carmona project, Marinas, etc.
Its time to walk the talk. People are not opposing just for the sake of opposing. Listen to the voices of renowned environmentalists and intellectuals who will enlighten you.
