It has become a habit to verbally abuse the Prime Minister of the Nation under name of ‘individual freedom of expression’. The top leaders, and followed down the line in the National party which governed the country since Independence are in forefront as they could not take in being out of power and are frustrated. The other opposition leaders support them to remain in the news. This attitude is highly deplorable and only exposes them as they stoop to any level as if they have got license to do so by the people.
The print and visual media promptly glamourise such instances and blow it out of proportion to get high TRP rating, forgetting that they are insulting the head of the Nation.
The image of the Nation is getting tarnished all over the world. This is stretching beyond limits and needs to stop immediately by enforcing stringent provisions.
Political leaders are free to accuse/abuse/use derogatory language against the PM and are left free, but one cannot make even a passing remark against Judiciary as it will attract suo moto contempt of Court. It is ironical that the PM appoints the Judiciary, but has no protection against such outbursts, abuse, insults, accusations, defamatory language, etc mainly from political leaders and individuals.
This matter is of great concern for an honest citizen of India and such instances should be termed un-patriotic and slapped with sedition charges suo moto for contempt of Nation. Only such stringent steps will enforce discipline otherwise it will lead to chaos. This is very essential to put an end to anti-national and irrational elements polluting the minds of the youth in particular.
The dignity and stature of the PM need to be preserved. One has to appreciate and learn the true meaning of ‘patriotism’ from Japan and other democratic countries. It is time for those in government to bring legislation to the effect that any type of abuse/insult to the Nation, PM, Defense personnel and Judiciary, by any individual should be taken as contempt of Nation with stringent penalty.
