All over the world some dangerous trends are emerging. Fanatics, lunatics, religious fundamentalists want to impose upon others their own ideas. Are these the signs of the times? Only time will tell.
In our own country laws banning cow slaughter are being enforced without giving us convincing reasons for it. All over the world and even in our own country there are people for whom beef is a staple diet. Can a law force one to change one’s diet?
Mother’s milk is meant for the child. A cow’s milk is meant to feed the calf. It is secondarily used to feed human beings.
In the year 2014, the Goa Police released figures of about 1,500 people having gone missing in Goa, out of which about 500 remained untraced. This year the same police ordered DySP to visit certain places where dead bodies are usually found. And the figures given were 90 bodies in 25 days. I am not aware of anybody in Goa having raised a question about this. This only shows how insensitive we have become regarding human beings while we are becoming so concerned about protecting cows and other animals. In our own country, where thousands die every day of hunger and starvation, can we afford to feed animals at the cost of human beings? Is human life so cheap?
Animal lovers will say don’t kill dogs. Dogs can bite you and you may die. But you can’t kill a dog. Dogs can surround pigs in the villages and tear them apart with cruelty but you can’t be cruel to a dog. There have been many cases when they have attacked and even killed children. And the government has to feed them in animal shelters spending tax payers’ money.
For centuries, people relished the delicacies prepared from the meat of wild animals hunted by hunters. But today, hunting is forbidden even if the animals are not in the endangered species category. And then why can one kill poultry animals, pigs, goats etc? Haven’t they got a right for their life? And why can’t fish in the water say to man “we have a right to life, we have been created to live in the water. Our life is sacred to us. Why do you kill and eat us? Similarly, birds can stake their claim too.
The vegetables/plants we eat can also say to man that they too have a right to life and demand that they not be consumed by man. Then do we starve and die?
