If there is expansion of the Konkan railway network in Goa, the new parallel rail track along the existing route shall be in conflict with the Agassaim-Cortalim Zuari road bridge.
It appears that the construction of the massive new Zuari Road bridge (eight lane?) and approaches proposed to be taken up in three packages from Siridao to Verna between Ch 522/615 to Ch 536/250 are not according to the bridge and approaches alignment layout plans for National Highway PWD/National Highway shown in the Regional Plan for Goa-2021. Has this project been tendered and awarded to the contractor without detailed project report showing approved bridge alignment layout plans and General Arrangement Drawings?
Also, according to the Request for Proposal (RFP) document of the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, the consultancy services contract for supervision of civil construction works for construction of bridge including approaches across river Zuari on NH-17/NH-66 in the State of Goa will be monitored by National Highways PWD Maharashtra. Why should the Maharashtra PWD monitor the construction of the new Zuari Road Bridge in Goa?
Serious attempts are being made to completely destroy the unique identity of Goa by diluting existing environmental protection, wildlife protection and bio-diversity acts/laws to kick-start implementation of unsustainable infrastructure development projects and supporting mega commercial projects through ‘special status’ financial packages.
The objective is to promote rapid urbanisation for massive influx of migrants/new residents in Goa.
Does the tiny State of Goa need financial packages for implementing such massive unsustainable projects?
