The online availability of this mobile has created both hope and anxiety among the customers whose ardent desire to acquire this dirt cheap mobile online has even crashed the supplier’s website with only 30,000 applicants managing to get firm bookings.
Now the euphoria created by this amazing price of just Rs 251, has caused a major controversy with the other mobile manufacturers of smart-phones questioning the intentions and motives behind this outrageous cheap offer. They have sought the intervention of both the Telecom Ministry and the IT Dept to inquire into this matter.
Most users of smart-phones are aware that for Rs 250 one can’t get even a quality screen guard or a decent flip cover or a replacement battery.
However, the Noida-based firm, Ringing Bells is undeterred and announced that the manufacturing cost comes to about Rs 2,500 and that they have devised ways to recover over Rs 2,000 per mobile through a series of marketing techniques. Only time will tell whether this bold and innovative experiment will succeed or not. However, if it turns successful than it is going to lay the foundation for many more such ventures which will provide great opportunities to Indian consumers.
