Invisible forces of mind

When an individual feels that some popular person is talented, and indulges in several guesswork positive statements about him, without any evidence, many blindly believe in them; and thus celebrity  acquire respect, devotion and love. This is called halo effect.

It is an error to think that big events must have big causes. If there is downfall in a family even if the cause was something minor, there is a tendency to assume that it is the cause of big sins of cheating in life. Such a slope-wise thinking is called misjudgment effect.

Corruption is the misuse of power for personal gain at the expense of others; like bribery, or other bad behavior. We all want to nip corruption in the bud. But in reality, it turns out to be botany effect. Each time we pay a bribe for a traffic offence, we are being corrupt. Just as seeds of trees grow into a flower; similarly, our deeds are seeds polluting others and the cycle of corruption goes on. This is called botany effect.

If a false information is repeated often, people believed it to be correct. For example, if one continuously calls a person a thief, everyone believes it to be true even when it is false. This is called illusory effect.

Throw a pebble into a calm pond and the disturbance created spreads in ever-widening circles until they reach the very edge of the pond. This is called the ‘ripple effect’; it is exactly what happens in many areas of life. For example, various villains, plant poisonous ideas in the minds of innocent individuals and the victim, believing it, spreads it from one ring of group to another and that is called ripple effect. Even a small change in government policy might have a ripple effect impacting various industries, businesses and individuals.

Just as a mirror shows all that is before it, so also our recurring thoughts and feelings shape our life. In other words, the cause of what we become in this world outwardly depends how we mirror our life inwardly in our thinking. How we enslave ourselves to some people by listening to them; putting ourselves in the cage of their thoughts and thus enslave ourselves to them. Just as the mirror shows all that is before it, so also our outward behaviour. This is called mirror effect. “As you think, so you become.” M K Gandhi was a timid barrister who transformed into a Mahatma. Swami Vivekananda, who initially trembled at the thought of addressing the Parliament of Religious, became a world-famous preacher! Abdul Kalam rose from humble origins to become the President of India. The Gita says you too can change from an ordinary to a famous person. 

Cause illness, accidents or other forms of harm to others, simply by looking at them with jealousy. While there may not be experimental evidence to support the existence of evil eye, the psychological impact of belief in it can’t be dismissed. Stress and anxiety resulting from the fear of being targeted by the evil eye can have real effects on health and well-being and that is called evil-eye effect.

The mind has distinct behaviour patterns, right knowledge and false knowledge. Sometimes it commits ‘thinking errors’. Therefore, we all must understand the happenings in our day to day life when the invisible forces of our mind slant towards error. So, take care of erroneous reasoning, while dealing with associates.
