Life is worth living!

The whole country is in grief and mourning the death of a young, handsome and talented actor of Indian cinema, Sushant Singh Rajput. This shocking news of the actor killing himself has shaken his fans, friends, neighbours and colleagues from film industry and people from all walks of life. Imagine the pain and agony his elderly father, sisters and family are going through at this point when he was a rising star in the world of cinema. It is tragic, heartbreaking and depressing to hear of losing someone special and loved one at the prime of his life. But what was  sickening is the way the media channels ran the story the whole day long on television and still continuing to dig into the personal life of the deceased. The media has lost its perspective and have given a bye bye to the ethos of journalism. They can stoop so low to get a few TRPs! Invading into the personal life style of the deceased amounts to an offence under Article 14 of the Constitution. Most of the Indian TV news channels nowadays only focus on the negative and depressing stories, and this is extremely bad for the mental health of the viewers. After watching such terrifying news, many people must be depressed. It plays a havoc in the minds of people, when a celebrity commits suicide; there is huge impact and repercussions on the fans, because  a wrong signal is sent into their minds that if a celebrity can do it,  why can’t they do it? And, therefore running such negative and depressing stories on national TV should be stopped forth with.

India has the highest rate of suicide deaths in South East Asia as per WHO report. But the death of this young actor became headlines because of his stature. People, no doubt are suffering from mental illness. Osho, the great philosopher, before his death in 1990, had mentioned in one of his books that in the  next 25 years, the world would need more psychiatrists than physicians.

It is we who are responsible for creating this society of competition, pressure and expectations. People have to learn to live a carefree life. Be happy with what you have. Love yourself, do something in life that makes you happy. Do not bother what others will say. You are answerable to your  own life. Do something constructive. Inculcate the reading habit. It is said that books are the best friends of yourself. Books will give you knowledge. They will give you food for thoughts.

Learn to enjoy your own company. Just the other day I was discussing with a friend of mine that there is difference between aloneness and loneliness. Aloneness means that you may be alone but not lonely;  you have your own company. Loneliness means you are lonely and you don’t have anyone including yourself. Be there for yourself. Your life matters. Firstly, you  must love yourself then you don’t need other people.  Secondly, when you don’t mix up too much with other people, you will remain peaceful. This is simply because you avoid in indulging with doing unwanted things. If you have good friends, then it is a blessing, but if you have negative people around you, try to keep them away from your life. In this journey of life you will meet good and bad people,  every person coming in your life will teach you something or the other.
