June 18 is a historic day in the liberation life of Goa. Renowned personalities, including Catholic priests, keeping aside their caste and class, social and religious status joined hands together to attain height of freedom and economic growth of Goans. They were indeed Portuguese citizens yet they fought against the oppressors, to put to an end all types of atrocities and inhuman treatment the citizens of Goa had experienced from the ruling class as well as to retain wealth of Goa for Goans.
Today we are in a liberated Goa, citizens of India. If those great giants whom we call today Freedom Fighters, waged war against the Dictator to give better future to us their descendants, is it not an opportune time today to right thinking persons who have social concern to raise voice and give birth to another revolution against corruption, lawlessness and criminality.
Today, if one glances and scrutinises the image of the golden Goa, one finds it being dwindled. The natural scenic beauty i.e. hills-mountains, rivers-lakes and water bodies, natural and man-made paddy fields have been disappearing to give place to concrete jungles.
Natural and pure air-water has been infested with pollutants. The political process, including elections, is used to capture power by illegal and corrupt means. Every strata of administration has given place to the structured corruption.
The files do not move from the level of the peon to head of the administration unless bribe/or gratification has been extended. Law and order situation has been deteriorating, traffic rules violations are in galore.
Educational qualification has not been crowned with job satisfaction; violators are left scot free and the innocent has to pay the price. Dissatisfaction is brewing in every sphere of life which calls for a peaceful revolution by democratic process
