There are people who claim that the present government just talks and does not do any work. Their target is obvious. There was no government worth the salt for the last ten years of the UPA rule; the government had gone into hibernation. Now there is a government that seems to be alive and kicking. This is one of the achievements of the present government.
The security situation was bleak when the UPA government was in the saddle. Because of its myopic vision, it viewed terrorism from the prism of a particular community. There was reluctance to deal with terrorist elements head on for the fear of losing votes of a particular community. The unequivocal message sent by the present dispensation has put a break on the anti-social elements rummaging the Indian nation. Pakistan has slowly realized that if embarks upon any misadventure it will pay a heavy price.
The security forces are given full powers to deal with elements that try to harm the Indian nation. People feel a sense of security now. This government has determination and commitment to uplift the country from the present nadir.
However any major policy initiative involves a lot of spade work: The efficiency of the programme has to be assessed; loopholes must be plugged; a legal framework must be put in place; and the states must be taken on board. All these cannot be done overnight. We are not leaving in a magical world where things can manifest at the swing of a magical wand. We are living in a real world where things take shape gradually.
People who tolerated and condoned the inactivity and inefficiency of the previous regime for a decade are demanding results from the present government within a couple of months! According to a political worthy, through Clean India campaign poison is being spread. Could there be any other statement as insensitive as this divine utterance of a member of a divine family?
