Old faces who suffered humiliating defeats at the last assembly elections and who believe defeat is not when one loses but when one refuses to try again are making plans to enter the political arena again. Similarly leaders who will claim they are in the field again because the masses want them. New leaders will be seen in the coming assembly elections because of the political strategy of infusing new blood. However much depends on how the old blood refuses to bow out of the political arena and may field themselves as Independents and still leaders who have been dissatisfied with the present dispensation will switch over to other parties and further still political heavy weights who started the mother of all battles of dislodging democratically elected government and who have changed sides and switched over to different parties will try to return to the main political they once served.
In Goa our people were not happy with the political dispensation prior to 2012 assembly elections and just gave only 9 seats to then ruling party. Post 2012 assembly elections it was mathematical calculation by the ruling dispensation who fielded Catholic candidates in the Catholic dominated constituencies specially in South Goa and with a windfall of election promises made inroads into the Congress bastions in South Goa.
Two years later some of the electoral promises have been reversed and the common man who perceived it was heaven in April 2012 is now being suffocated by high prices on every front. While formulating a scheme like Laadli Laxmi the government should have made some sacrifices like each member of the ruling dispensation should have donated at least 20% of their monthly income towards the scheme thereby not stretching the common man.
This would have been a pride for the government and the people would want such a political dispensation to continue to rule for years and years. Today the sum of Rs 1 lakh which is distributed in the form of this scheme belongs to the people of Goa. Or the government should not have brought forward such a scheme. The people of Goa did not ask for such a scheme. By now Goans know political masters play games that suit their political convenience and not the convenience of the electorate. Soon it will be election time and we will see a lot of surprises again.
