Poor Service of Government Hospitals in Goa

It is very sad to say that the government hospitals of Goa are lacking in their basic amenities that they should provide to their patients. In a recent incident at Hospicio Hospital at Margao, a patient who got a heart attack was not admitted because there was no spare bed in the hospital. So they told the patient to GMC Hospital at Bambolim. Now the patient’s life is at risk if the patient is suffering from a severe attack and the worse case was that the patient can be admitted only he/she is accompanied with his/her family member or close relative to stay in the hospital.
My point is that what kind of justice is this when a patient if struggling between death and life cannot to be admitted when no one accompanies him/her? Then for what are the doctors and nurses paid for? There are so many people who meet with an accident or suffer from severe sickness with no one to stay with them except for the neighbours or sometimes strangers who, inspite of their busy schedule, drop them to the hospitals. My few suggestions to the concerned authorities to implement the following as soon as possible:
1. To admit the patient immediately even if there is no one to stay with him/her as life is more precious. He/she can be given under a care of a nurse who will be responsible to carry out the necessary test. Thereafter inquiry can be conducted to find out his contact details.
2. More beds should be provided so that there is no chance to shift the patient to far off location hospitals putting the patient’s life at risk.
3. Hygiene should be maintained at the hospitals on priority.  The bed sheets used in the casualty ward are dirty with blood stains.
4. There is shortage of gowns (uniform dress for patients) and sometimes people are told to bring clothes from home which is not possible if the distance is too far from hospital.
Hoping the concerned authorities will provide better facilities to the patients so that we can proudly say we have the ‘Best Government Hospitals in Goa’.
