Protectors turning predators

For many children today, childhood is a difficult and dangerous time. Always the innocent are the first victims, so it has been for ages past so it is now. Our children only have one chance at their innocence one chance to be young and silly one chance at a carefree childhood. And who are the people who make sure this happens? Who are the ones who promise to do whatever they can to protect this right of our kiddos?
Mothers and we responsible adults because we are the keepers of our children’s innocence, this hit me like a ton of bricks the other day. I think it has been building up inside of me, secretly and slowly adding up without my full realisation until the other day when it came in the news of children in shelter homes being abused and misused in the name of protection. To those who abuse: the sin is yours, the crime is yours, and the shame is yours to those who protect the perpetrators: blaming the victims only masks the evil within, making you as guilty as those who abuse. Stand up for the innocent or go down with the rest. And it’s our sacred duty to guard their innocence like it’s our job.
These children should have plenty of opportunities to “grow up.” There are a lot of fears expressed by parents in these words they’ll be exposed to social media and peer pressure and outside influences. They’ll be sneaking TV shows we ask them not to watch or emulating pop stars and wanting to wear inappropriate outfits. They are going to hit the stage of wanting to look older, be older—faster than  we would ever comprehend, I’m sure. And that scares us. Once upon a time, in the Age of Innocence, children really believed that all adults were good,  that the adult world was in every way bigger and better than their own world.
Anyone who has spent quality time with kids not being selfish, know they can be an uplifting source of joy. Children can trigger strong emotions in people that make them smile, laugh, cry, or even just stare in bewilderment. The unfiltered nature of a child’s mind leads them to do and say lots of surprising thing’s, and naturally many folks have some sweet and moving things to say in return about these kids hey need a guardian in this predominantly unknown and sometimes scary and dangerous world. “A child’s caregiver is responsible to fit the roles of safe haven and protector”.
No violence against children is justifiable and all violence against children is preventable.
