Politicians play a very vital role in the destruction or development of a place. Politicians are our own people chosen and elected by us and elevated to represent and serve us, but the breed of good & selfless politicians is becoming scarce as years go by. They don’t remember that they are chosen by us, for our welfare but they work for the welfare of themselves and their families. Some politicians contest on party basis and some prefer to go alone as independents. Now soon we would be approached by politicians begging for votes. The big question that comes to my mind is “whom to vote” ? We have on offer various parties like A, B, C,… N, T, etc. as national parties. M, S, etc. as regional parties, Independents and the NOTA.
We all know the history of all the parties on offer, but still memory is short and so we forget their misdeeds and still vote the same old people. Some times just for the greed of little money we sell our conscience and vote. We get what we deserve in the end, and we complain “avois kitli margai”.
Party A has made headlines in Delhi will it get success in Goa? Party B got elected because of the misdeeds of Party C. Although Party B had a history of being labeled as communal got elected since it had fielded candidates from minority community to win confidence of the minority and now we have seen till date how they function. No doubt they have brought in a lot of schemes for some but at what cost, rob Paul to pay Peter. Should Party C show it’s face again? Secular party, maybe yes, no welfare schemes, corruption and family raj was encouraged at will, and that brought their down fall. For even a simple decision, approach the high command.
Portugal was the high command to control affairs in Goa during the colonial rule, so also Delhi was the high command during Party C’s rule. And what to comment about regional parties? Party M was for merger and Marathi. Party S is it existing or dead. If it could not save itself how could it save Goa?
All these parties and individuals will approach us again, How many of us will do a proper assessment and bring about a change? We achieved liberation by sending away the colonial rulers back home with a better hope, we chose freedom for self rule. We fought against merger through opinion poll. We discontinued calling our self an union territory, a subordinate of central rule and chose to become a state hoping it to be ideal/good but still we remained a puppets of the centre who decide for us if we choose for a national party. We have not learnt from our mistakes and still continue begging for special status. We don’t have dearth of special people amongst us so let us choose some special people to protect what is left of our Bhangarachem Goem. Be wise and vote right at the next elections.
