In the First World War, the Allied Powers which included Great Britain won and the region of Palestine in the Arabian Peninsula which was ruled by Ottoman Empire came under the Mandate of Great Britain. In 1917, the then foreign Secretary of Great Britain Lord Arthur Balfour declared that his Government would support the Jews spread all over the world to make their own homeland in Palestine. In fact the above declaration of Lord Balfour was quite unfair. It meant that, “one nation solemnly promised to a second nation the country of a third”! might be that it was a gift by the Britain to Jew community for their wholehearted support for Allies Powers in the World War that was concluded then. The percentage of native Arab population in Palestine then was 85 whereas that of Jews was only 7!
In 1922, League of Nations, a worldwide intergovernmental organization that was founded two years earlier then, upheld the above declaration of Great Britain and promised that Jew homeland would be established in Palestine. From that time onwards throngs of Jews across the World started entering Palestine State and tried to settle there notwithstanding objections of the local Arab Community.

In 1945 the World War two was over. And soon the League of Nations was replaced by United Nations Organisation. In 1948, the British Mandate of 30 years over Palestine was due to end. Therefore on 29th November 1947 the UNO passed a resolution that partitioned Palestine region into two states. The bigger one was designated or Jew state and the smaller one for Arab State.
On 15th of May 1948, the British were required to give up its right of mandate over Palestine. And on the previous day i.e. on 14th May, the head of the Jewish Agency then David Ben Gurion proclaimed the establishment of a new State Israel! President of United States then Harry S. Truman recognized the new nation on the same day. This made the whole Arab world furious. And on the very next day i.e. on 15th May 1948, five Arab Countries along with Arabs in Palestine attacked the newly formed Israel State. The war that followed between the Arabs and Israel lasted for more than 9 months in which Arabs were badly defeated.
Now more than 75 years have been passed since the above occurrence. Hitherto 9 wars are fought intermittently between Israel and the Arabs. The recent war that started on 7th October of the current year is the 10th War in which around 1400 Israelis and more than 18000 Palestinians have lost their lives. The present war is not yet over. It would end one day like previous ones. And as usual, the problem would remain unsolved.
At the present moment 77% of the Palestine is in full possession of Israel. And in the remaining 23% of the State wherein Arabs are in vast majority is also controlled by Israel! This reminds us of an old story by Aesop named “The Arab and the Camel”. The Camel in the above story tries to enter the tent of the Arab by making several requests to its kind master. But after gaining full entry in the tent, it feels that the tent is too small for the two. And then tells its master to quit the tent! the age-old Arabian (hi) story seems to be repeated with minor alterations on the same soil!
