While the people of Goa were frustrated with the Congress regime with the utter neglect of the common man and lack of political will for governance, the present BJP government came to power with electoral promises that brought smiles on the faces of the people of Goa, but the people were soon disenchanted
as the electoral promises were taken away. This amounts to making mockery of the electorate. Electoral promises are a gift and should never be taken away. Having done that, people’s expectations are hurt and the BJP government in Goa is on a weak wicket. This is good sign for the earlier Congress politicians who are now encashing on the opportunity and will try to come to power by all means. It is surprising to note the earlier Congress leaders who were in the government are now making statements slamming the government for hiking electricity and water charges. It is a welcome move but why these leaders do not take to the streets in defending the cause of the common man?
Against this background there is Third Front or Forefront making waves. While Rohan Khaunte had earlier promised support to the Parrikar government he stated he does not support the Parsekar government. Then we have Vijai Sardessai and Naresh Sawal who had always been with the opposition. The Third Front or the Forefront needs to make public its ideology and its minimum common programme.
Today we require a government with a political will for governance as per the Constitution of India, a government with an ear to listen to our grievances, a government with a heart to fulfill its commitments to the people of Goa and a government which goes hand in hand with the electorate whilst taking major policy decisions as Goa and Goans have been sidelined by the earlier dispensations and pleased the corporate sector.
