During colonial era and around two decades post-liberation, we were more familiar of places named by our elders, such as Ambeacodem, Chinchecodem, Pimplacodem, Dedteacodem, Khursacodem, Deulacodem, Taricodemand so on. These places were mostly meeting points of young and old. Transport operators used them as stops, fisher folks, vegetable/fruit vendors to sell, kept neat and tidy without any stray animals around. People also used to collect dry fallen leaves, tiny branches and used them for daily domestic fire, so nothing was wasted. Above may seem odd to present generation. These meeting points no longer exist (except for religious structures) and are demolished, aged old fruit yielding trees mercilessly chopped off, giving way to buildings and bus stops at few places some of which are in pathetic condition.
Almighty’s kindness and generosity creating the earth with jungles, abundant trees, green grass, water and inhabitants of various kinds such as omnivores, carnivores and herbivores where nature and inhabitants were perfectly balanced. Imagine If God had to create only one kind of species, wouldn’t it have been disastrous fighting for their survival, attacking one another, inflicting injuries and death. Poaching, overfishing, realtors, not to forget political leaders and selfish individuals for the sake of increase in commerce have been killing and destroying God given sources.
Conservationist and activist agitation is considered as anti-peace and anti-development. These professionals and groups are fighting for their benefit? No, they want to save extinct species and save destructions. They contribute towards study, to preserve, increase and multiply things for none other than us. God wishes everyone to have fair share of his creation.
What are we experiencing presently in our state and other parts of our country? Is there law and order adhered and maintained? Is there a respect for law abiding people? One can daily read on papers and watch on television various type of crimes, scams, suspensions, disturbance, unregulated tariffs and services, increasing burden on innocent, uncontrollable corruption in Govt., depts, police, political groups, individuals and accusations against one another being overlooked by our present leaders. Instead of reversing our hardship, life is getting more complicated.
BJP membership drive is unnecessary waste of time and money. What the Govt., is trying to prove their aggressive powers on citizens? Their vote bank members will have no qualms and complaints for they are substituted by tax payer’s money in the name of government aided schemes. Are these right acts of law, won’t curses be showered on them? People of all sectors are preached about good things of life and not to lie, cheat and steal or borrow and live on aid unless otherwise one in necessity.
Look, how crooked top brains work, legislators are called in their power shed, threatened, sheared and silenced not to open their mouth and agitate against any Govt., plans. In a similar way messengers are sent to pass on the strong messages to individual activists, NGOS and peaceful groups and have toned down their voices for grievances.
Inclusion of Ponda under south zone is to diminish the power of minorities to their benefit. Sancoale and Issorcim are being grabbed in the name of income generation. Ruling legislator slogan is development, jobs and commerce. We see only unprofitable projects come up and no permanent jobs. Present situation is worst then previous “batkarponns”. During Batkarponn at least one could get place to build house, manage his/her basic needs such as water, firewood etc. which has become scarce and having no alternative,are forced to commit crime/thefts or die of dreadful diseases or face disastrous consequence.
