To manage garbage is a humongous recurring task at present time, needs to deal efficiently or else we face the dreadful consequences i.e. spread of diseases, contamination of water and land.
If we think and reason out who and what is the cause of this nuisance? Councils and the legislators, who did not have any prior knowledge what would be the effect of garbage dump, would create at the site and surrounding villages. The illegals, builders, and illegalities allowed by our legislators for the sake of vote bank and money, plays a major role for this unhealthy nuisance.
Councils and VP must be independent bodies and not linked to any political party. Attitude of council members and legislators should be of co-operative nature and working side by side to prioritize and immediately take action on public issues which has ill effects on health, land and water. Since Goa is developed state, rules and regulations must be strictly adhered and updated as the time requires so that the businesses are aware of the requirement. Lack of funds can be capitalized from various businesses under their control and not just sit and warm the chairs.
Most of our comunidade hill top lands in various parts of Goa are occupied by the people and huge amount of filth strewn and accumulated. Besides, there is no sanitary system. Thousands of people go for nature’s call in surrounding bushy and open areas. Presently, we are focusing on ill-effects at Sonsodo in time to come more Sonsodos will come into existence if elected members work for their benefit and care less for public benefit and the state. During monsoon rains, all these filth and human excreta, sick and dead animals are gushed down in streams to low lying areas, immensely effecting villages, wells fields, water bodies with high amount of contamination. Who is responsible for this filthy mess and destruction of natural sources?
The government should either build them low cost houses with proper sanitation and sewage and garbage treatment plants or else they should be moved out putting responsibility on respective MLA’s.
Now there should be a strict control on new realty developmental projects, this projects are to be made public in VP and City Councils, arrange meetings and have open discussion with project details. If all requirements are met such as sewage water treatment, garbage disposal then only to be allowed to come up. If objected, then no one has the power to overrule it. It is time that people rule their towns and villages and not the elected leaders whose only aim is to make more money and destroy peace.
We dwell in a land where humans ratio is more, against the availability of land. It is bound and will face troubles to manage the garbage situation in cities or towns or villages. People can leave peaceful life if we don’t embrace greed, for self -benefits, money and luxuries which is the cause of more destruction.
Swaach Bharat, will never be successful if we are ruled by non-planners and destructors, never. For how long the small percentage will live to defend us, if we don’t select the right leaders now and avoid future generations to face Ram teri Goa meili.
