Owaisi Demands Tough Action on Pakistan, Calls for Unity With Kashmiris and Protest Against Waqf Bill
Hyderabad MP and All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) president Asaduddin Owaisi launched a scathing attack on Pakistan during a public address in Prabhani, Maharashtra, on Sunday, following the recent terror attack in Pahalgam that left 26 people dead.
Owaisi accused Pakistan of training terrorists for years to target India and said the country was decades behind India in progress and power. “You’re not just half an hour behind, you’re half a century behind India. Your country’s budget doesn’t even match our military budget,” he declared, dismissing Pakistan’s frequent nuclear threats as hollow rhetoric.
Condemning the Pahalgam attack, Owaisi emphasized the brutal nature of the assault, stating that the terrorists had asked victims their religion before killing them. “Which religion are you talking about? You are worse than the Khawarij. This act shows you are the successors of ISIS,” he said, referencing the radical extremist group.
The AIMIM leader urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to impose strong economic penalties on Pakistan and use ethical hacking to disrupt its digital infrastructure. “International law permits us to block their air force movements and use cyber measures to defend ourselves,” he claimed.
Owaisi also criticized rising hostility toward Kashmiris in public discourse, reminding the nation that many Kashmiris showed immense courage during the Pahalgam tragedy. “A Kashmiri gave his life fighting the terrorists. Another carried an injured child on his back for 40 minutes to save him. If Kashmir is an integral part of India, so are Kashmiris,” he said.
In addition to addressing national security concerns, Owaisi spoke out strongly against the Waqf (Amendment) Act during the rally. He called on the public to join protests led by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB), including the ‘Batti Gul’ campaign on April 30, which involves switching off lights as a form of resistance.
He also criticized political leaders such as Ajit Pawar, Nitish Kumar, Jayant Chaudhary, and N. Chandrababu Naidu for supporting the controversial bill. Calling out Nitish Kumar for “backstabbing” and accusing Naidu of risking his son’s political future, Owaisi said, “Muslims and secular-minded people will not forgive them for siding against the community.”
As India reels from the latest terror attack, Owaisi’s fiery remarks underline a growing demand for strong national action against terrorism, while also stressing the importance of unity and justice at home.
