Ballia Class 12 student raped after Independence Day celebration, two men booked

Ballia police have booked two men for allegedly raping a Class 12 student while she was returning home after attending the Independence Day programme at her school.

According to Bairia Station House Officer (SHO) Moolchand Chaurasia, the 17-year-old girl was forcibly taken to a farmhouse by Amarjit Singh (35), a resident of her village, where he allegedly raped her. His uncle, Gautam Singh (45), also threatened the minor along with him.

Police said the duo warned the girl of dire consequences if she disclosed the incident. Following a complaint filed by the girl’s mother, a case was registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

Efforts are on to trace and arrest the accused, the SHO added.
