The Defence Acquisition Council (DAC), chaired by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, has approved Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for a series of major capital acquisition proposals worth approximately ₹79,000 crore for the Indian Armed Forces.
The Ministry of Defence said the approvals were granted during the DAC meeting held on December 29, 2025, covering key capabilities for the Indian Army and Navy.

For the Army, AoN has been accorded for the procurement of Loiter Munition Systems for artillery regiments, Low Level Light Weight Radars, Long Range Guided Rocket Ammunition for the Pinaka Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), and the Integrated Drone Detection and Interdiction System Mk-II.
According to the Ministry, the Loiter Munition Systems will enable precision engagement of tactical targets, while the lightweight radars are designed to detect and track small, low-flying unmanned aerial systems. The upgraded guided rockets will significantly extend the range and accuracy of the Pinaka MLRS for high-value target strikes. The enhanced Mk-II drone detection system will bolster protection of critical Army assets across both tactical and hinterland regions.
For the Indian Navy, the DAC has approved procurement of Bollard Pull (BP) Tugs, High Frequency Software Defined Radios (HF SDR) Manpacks, and the leasing of High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Remotely Piloted Aircraft Systems (RPAS), further strengthening operational readiness and maritime surveillance capabilities.
The approvals underline the government’s continued push to modernise India’s defence forces and enhance indigenous capability across critical domains.
