The SHO of Rajpur police station in Dehradun, Shanky Kumar, has been suspended after allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol and ramming his car into three vehicles late Wednesday night. According to police, Kumar attempted to flee the scene after the collisions, but bystanders quickly intervened and surrounded him. The entire incident was captured on video, which soon went viral on social media, drawing widespread attention and condemnation.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ajay Singh took immediate cognisance of the footage, which appeared to show Kumar engaging in reckless and inappropriate behaviour. Acting swiftly, Singh suspended Kumar with immediate effect, highlighting that such actions are unacceptable from a law enforcement officer.

Following the suspension, the SSP ordered a case to be registered against Kumar for misconduct and causing damage to property. Authorities also conducted medical examinations of Kumar and other individuals involved in the incident to ensure there were no injuries requiring attention.

As investigations continue, the police have also appointed Sub-Inspector Deepak Dhariwal as the new SHO of Rajpur police station, ensuring continuity in local law enforcement. The case serves as a stern reminder that law enforcement personnel are not above the law and must adhere to the standards of conduct expected of their position.
