A local train disaster was narrowly prevented in Mumbai on Monday when a teenager in an intoxicated state was found lying on railway tracks at Platform No. 1 of a busy suburban station. The episode unfolded at around 3:20 PM, when an incoming suburban train was forced to stop abruptly after the motorman noticed the individual on the tracks and sounded repeated warning horns. The train came to a halt just before reaching the spot, preventing a potentially fatal collision.
Railway police and protection force personnel rushed to the scene and removed the youth from the tracks, allowing train services to resume shortly afterward. Initial investigation revealed that the 18-year-old had allegedly entered the track area to collect plastic bottles and later fell asleep due to intoxication.

The individual was taken into custody for questioning, and officials registered a case under the Railway Act for unauthorised entry onto railway property. Authorities reiterated the dangers of trespassing on railway tracks, warning that even a brief lapse in safety awareness can lead to life-threatening consequences.
