PORVORIM: Speaker and Mayem MLA, Anant Shet on Tuesday stated that 100 provisional and 15 confirmed sanads will be issued to Mayemkars in the second week of November.
“Of this, 32 provisional sanads have already been issued and 24 are pending for payment with the mamlatdar. Provisional sanads are as good as final and in the next 15 days we are planning to give clubbed sanads rather than giving individual ones,” Shet said.
Shet said that regular discussions at the collectorate office were being held reviewing and checking the progress of the process. He said that as per the briefing by the CM, around 1034 applications have reached the Deputy Collector and the process has started. Stating that the government is not worried about the election code of conduct notification, he said, that once the order comes out assigning the job to designated officer it will be expedited.
Meanwhile, MBVNKS President, Kashinath Mayekar said the government has betrayed the people of Mayem and failed to provide sanads. “Over 1141 sanads have been stranded of which only 56 provisional sanads are ready. The process has been very slow. Not one confirmed sanad has been issued till date,” he said.
He expressed dissatisfaction, terming it an election stunt and stating that nothing will be done before the elections and the code of conduct will hamper the process.
He said the government had promised an office at Mayem, so that senior citizens don’t have to travel to Panjim but this was not done. “The Samiti will hold a meeting to decide who to support in the coming elections,” he added.
