PANJIM: The 108 Ambulance Service Employees Union has served a seven-day ultimatum to the government to release their two months unpaid salaries.
In a statement, union General Secretary Prasad Naik said that they held a meeting with officials of the GVK EMRI who run the ambulance services for the Goa government.
“Even though we didn’t receive salaries we are providing emergency services to the community. After discussing with union members and GVK EMRI management, we have decided to continue working for seven more days considering the importance of the 108 ambulance services to the community of Goa”, the statement says.
Naik stated that the GVK EMRI management informed the union that the staff did not receive salaries for two months as funds were not received from the government due to the election code of conduct.
He said, “The management has said that the grant file will be cleared within one week from the government Accounts Department and requested all to come to work.”Naik said the future course of action will be announced if the government fails to pay the employees within one week.
