Ten houses were damaged after two mango trees, two teak trees and some banyan trees uprooted and fell on the 10 houses in Poitomaddo, Cuncolim. Two trees were uprooted in Deussua and Pullewaddi damaging two adjoining houses. One tree was reported uprooted in Naingilem but saved the house from any major damages. Fortunately none of the tree falls caused any major damage to any of the adjoining houses. Minor damages to the roof tiles and side walls of the houses were reported. All the trees were cleared by 11 o’clock.
“Roof tiles of most of the houses have been replaced immediately by us and luckily the trees have missed the houses and saved them of any major damages” told Talathi of Cuncolim Rupak Naik. The areas were in total black out after the cyclone but was restored by late evening with help of Fire brigade, Electricity and District administration.
About 22 houses were damaged due to stormy weather conditions in Cuncolim and had uprooted trees on August 3 in 2013 which had caused a total damage of 10 lakh rupees and also shut down NH 17 from Demanni-Cuncolim to Balli for 5 hours at night.
