70 persons damage govt vehicle
BICHOLIM: About 70 persons from Kudcherem-Bicholim pelted stones and damaged a government vehicle at the Electricity Department on Wednesday night.
According to the Bicholim police, Shyamsunder Raut of Khalchawada-Sal, Bicholim, complained that about 70 unidentified persons from Kudcherem pelted stones, thereby endangering his life and other electricity department staff, by obstructed them from discharging their duties and also damaged government vehicle (GA-02-G-7595), causing loss of about Rs 45,000. The complainant further stated that the accused persons threatened them with dire consequence.
Gold items worth Rs 13 lakh stolen
VASCO: Gold ornaments worth Rs Rs 13.52 lakh were stolen from a house at Cortalim on Wednesday.
According to Verna police, Narayan Naik of Cortalim complained that some persons entered his house by break opening the locks of the main door and stole four gold bangles, two chain, bangles, two pairs of Toda, one necklace, one Atti, one chain with locket, two bangles, one gold mangalsutra, one diamond ring, a pair of earring, one coin, one nose pin, one daul, one pair of white stone, all worth Rs 13.52 lakh..
Valpoi man dies in road mishap
DABOLIM: A 54-year-old man from Valpoi died in a road accident at Varnapuri-Vasco on Thursday.
According to Vasco police, Gurudas Gaonkar was knocked down by a car (GA-06-D-8495) while he was crossing the road. No arrest has been made and police is investigating the case.
Cash, laptop stolen from Porvorim
PORVORIM: Cash, laptop and other items worth about Rs 53,000 were stolen from a shop at Porvorim.
According to the Porvorim police, Balwant Singh, residing at Techno Park Building, Chogm Road, Porvorim, complained that between 10 pm on June 10 and 6.30 am on June 11, some persons entered his shop by bending open the shutter and decamped with cash of Rs 8,000, one laptop and DVR of CCTV and some cashew nut packets, all worth about Rs 53,000,.
Body found in railway platform
SANVORDEM: The body of an unidentified person was found at platform number 1 at the Sanvordem railway station on Wednesday. According to the Vasco railway police, the deceased is suspected to be about 45 years and the body was preserved in T B Hospital for identification and post-mortem. PSI Sherif Jacques is investigating the case.
