MAPUSA: The thirteen alleged accused persons arrested in connection of murder case of Uttar Pradesh native by Calangute Police on Monday were remanded to one day police custody while the body of 30-year-old Shamshad Khan (Malik) is preserved at the Goa Medical College and Hospital, Bambolim, for autopsy.
The Calangute Police informed that they are waiting for the family of the deceased person to arrive to conduct the autopsy.
Meanwhile, the complainant Sumit Jaiswal (23) native of New Delhi and presently working as a waiter on a private shack at Calangute is undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College and Hospital.
It may be recalled that on late Sunday night a group of 15 to 17 persons allegedly formed an unlawful assembly and in furtherance of their common object assaulted a New Delhi native working as waiter and one UP native who was also working at the private shack in Calangute.
In the incident, the UP native Shamshad Khan (Malik) 30 years old died on the spot while New Delhi native Sumit Jaiswal sustained severe head injuries.
The alleged accused persons had used weapons such as wooden sticks, iron pipes and rod which were later seized by Calangute Police during panchnama.
The police sources informed that the deceased person had gone in search of the associate of the accused persons to inquire about a mobile phone which the accused person has promised to give to the deceased.
