14 Mopa airport affected families to be rehabilitated at Casarvarem

15 receive job appointment letters from GMR Goa International Airport; Will join duty from January 1, 2018

PORVORIM: The 14 families affected by the Mopa airport project will be rehabilitated at Casarvarem village in Pernem taluka.
According to a government order each of the families will be allotted 800sq meters of land, in which 100 sq meters and 50sq meters will be used for construction of a goat or cow shed, a community hall with 150 sitting capacity, crematorium (2 bodies), water and electricity supply along with approach road.
The order also states that grazing rights on about 20,000sq meters of land in survey number 207 of Casarvarem village, of which ownership will remain with the State government, will be set aside for them.
The rehabilitation package will be implemented by GMR Goa International Airport Limited (GGIAL) on nomination basis based on a PWD estimate of Rs 6.33 crore.
“The implementation of the package shall be monitored by the Public Works Department (PWD) and reimbursement of cost to GGIAL shall be subject to verification and certification by the PWD. In case the expenditure exceeds the PWD estimate, the excess expenditure will not be reimbursed by government to the GGIAL,” the order states.
As per the sanction order, 14 families have been given a rehabilitation package while 15 members received job appointment letters of GMR Goa International Airport Limited. Out of 15 members, 12 are field assistants and others are driver, technical assistant and associate assistant at the airport. They are expected to join duty of January1, 2018.
