15 pythons hatched, released

MARGAO: The Wildlife Rescue Squad (WRS) released 15 baby pythons into the wild within 12 hours of their hatching recently.

The mother python had been rescued from Nuvem and taken to a shelter by WRS members.
“This beauty managed to hatch the 15 eggs she laid in a not-very-comfortable environment that I shared with her. These 15 little, beautiful pythons were released within 12 hours back into the wild, and into the hands of nature. Hope we can be, and learn to be, good caretakers of the environment so that these amazing creatures can sustain themselves. By this, we will be doing ourselves a favour. It’s amazing to see the instincts that they are born with,” said Benhail Antao, wildlife expert and WRS member.
He added, “It’s sad that this year, like every year, many pythons have been killed and their eggs destroyed. The most common cause of this merciless killing is excavators that are cutting hills for our selfish needs and not caring about other living creatures.”
