MARGAO: During the current financial year as on January 31, 2020 in South Goa 88 villages, 60 projects have been undertaken under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Guarantee (MGNRG) scheme and so far Rs 50 lakh have been spent on these works.
The works have been completed in seven panchayats where the total amount spent is Rs 16 lakh that includes the amount spent on material, too. While Rs 6.08 lakh has been spent on wages the remaining money is for the cost of material purchased for the works.
During the current financial year, 153 works have been recommended and these include 22 spillover works that were recommended last year but not taken up then.
In November the Union government released Rs 82 lakh to be spent under NREGS in South Goa and the total money is expected to be utilised by February when the final report will be submitted.
